Pietro Nenni and Concetto Pettinato: attempts at dialogue

Abstract

This essay illustrates, by means of unpublished correspondence – which also involved Tullio Vecchietti – and two articles, the attempts at dialogue that took place between Pietro Nenni and Concetto Pettinato after the Second World War. The historical leader of the Italian Socialist Party, on the other hand, was no stranger to heretical and impossible attempts at dialogue, particularly with exponents already belonging to the Fascist world, despite his well-known perplexity towards the Togliatti amnesty.
